Safe Schools Roundtable, January 26, 2010

On Tuesday, Carolyn and I represented The Living Room at the first Safe Schools Roundtable hosted by Oregon Safe Schools and Communities Coalition. The event was an opportunity for GLBTQ youth advocates to share information about the work we're doing to support safety for students and staff in schools, specifically around gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation. We discussed how each of our groups will support schools - and students - in assuring the implementation of the Oregon Safe Schools Act.

The following groups were represented at the table:
* The Living Room
* Oregon Safe Schools and Communities Coalition
* The Oregon GSA Network
* SMYRC (The Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Resource Center)
* Trans-Active
* Oregon PFLAG (Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays)
* Love Makes a Family
* Basic Rights Oregon
* Q Center

Folks shared a number of ideas about how we could work together to decrease bullying, such as: providing broad-based training on how to be an ally and interrupting problematic language, supporting youth in increasing their ability to effect change in their own schools, and developing a coalition-based toolkit.

In our efforts to collaborate to support the Oregon Safe Schools Act and improve school safety for GLBTQ students (and faculty and staff), we will meet about every other month.

  1. I'm  here to share my testimony of what a good trusted loan company did for me. My name is Nikita Tanya, from Russian and I’m a lovely mother of 3 kids I lost my funds on trying to get a loan it was so hard for me and my children, I went online to seek for a loan assistance  all hope was lost until one faithful day when I met this friend of mine who recently secured a loan from Le_Meridian Funding Service She introduced me to this honest loan company who helped me get a loan in within 5 working days, I will forever be grateful to Mr Benjamin, for helping me get back on feet again. You can contact Mr Benjamin via email: lfdsloans@lemeridianfds.com, they do not know I’m doing this for them, but i just have to do it because a lot of people are out there who are in need of a loan assistance  please come to this company and be saved.WhatsApp:(+1 989-394-3740)
